Today is Auckland Anniversary, a day the top half of the North Island celebrates by taking the day off.
Nelson have got on the bandwagon and are also enjoying the day off. The top of the South Island have the day off to celebrate Nelson Anniversary Day. Is anyone working today?

- The Auckland Anniversary Regatta, which takes place today has grown from an impromptu event involving a couple of row boats to an annual extravaganza recognised as the largest one-day regatta in the world.
