One of the questions I get asked frequently while training people and on the support desk is how to turn off the Editing Plane and how to change the Grid display. These are both quite simple things to rectify. To turn off the Editing Plane display, go to the View Menu and simply click on the Editing Plane Display option
If you want to change the color of the grid, first make sure you are in 3D window, then go to the View menu and this time choose the Grid & Editing Plane Options > Grids & Backgrounds… option. In this dialog box you change the sizing and colour of the grids as well as the background colour.
